The Board of Directors of NH the Beautiful, Inc. (NHtB) has approved $40,200 in Recycling Equipment Grant funding to support two solid waste districts and eight New Hampshire municipalities.

The awarded equipment will expand storage capacity, improve material handling, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen municipal recycling programs across the state.

“These grants provide critical infrastructure support to New Hampshire communities,” said Kevin Daigle, Board President of NH the Beautiful. “Investing in equipment allows municipalities to operate more efficiently, improve safety, and ensure valuable recyclable materials are properly managed and returned to market.”

Strengthening Local Recycling Infrastructure

The 2026 Recycling Equipment Grant recipients include:

B.C.E.P. Solid Waste District – $5,000

Serving Barnstead, Chichester, Epsom, and Pittsfield, the District will purchase a skid steer to replace an aging unit. The equipment is essential for transporting recyclables to and from storage areas prior to shipment to market.

Coös County Recycling Center (West Stewartstown) – $3,000

The cooperative facility—serving five New Hampshire towns and three Vermont towns—will purchase two storage containers to store baled mixed paper and old corrugated cardboard (OCC) while awaiting sale to vendors.

Town of Epping – $4,000

Two 30-yard open-top roll-off containers will expand capacity for aluminum cans and glass, preventing overflow and reducing unnecessary disposal.

Town of Hooksett – $5,000

A new baler will compact aluminum cans, OCC, paper, and plastics. Baling reduces material volume, improves storage efficiency, lowers transportation costs, and increases commodity value.

Town of Raymond – $4,000

A refurbished compactor will reduce recyclable volume, improving transport efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Town of Winchester – $3,000

A baler will allow the town to transition from loose to baled recyclables, increasing market value and improving storage efficiency.

Town of Antrim – $2,400

Four shipping containers will eliminate ongoing rental expenses and allow the town to accumulate full loads of recyclables before shipment.

Town of Dunbarton – $5,000

A compact wheel loader will support daily facility operations, including loading baled recyclables and managing compost operations.

Town of Hancock – $5,000

A forklift will be used to move baled materials, load trailers, and manage recyclable containers safely and efficiently. Recycling is mandatory in Hancock.

Town of Whitefield – $3,800

Two 40-foot Conex storage boxes and one 20-foot modified storage trailer will provide secure storage for baled plastics and used oil collected from residents.
